Here are your picks for this week:
🔄 Process makes perfect
A great technical leader ought to forecast future problems, and put in place solutions before the problems materialise, right? Not quite, according to Nathan Marz, creator of Apache Storm.
Instead, build technology only once you feel the pain to build it. An interesting reactive approach, which feels relevant when resources are especially tight. And the focus on ‘making it possible’ first, before making it beautiful and fast, is far from controversial.
👩💻 It’s all about People
Scaling a startup involves building up its product and growing the team, but what about evolving the leadership? HBR has a good article explaining how the roles of (co-)founders are bound to evolve as a company grows, and how to handle this. Lots of good points in there.
⌨️ If it ain’t code, don’t fix it
As we reach the end of 2019, now’s a good time to start planning for next year, starting with … dev conferences! Here is a decent list of conferences to pick from, covering a range of topics and locations. Worth a look for a bit of inspiration!
I hope you enjoyed this. Have a great couple of weeks, as the 5MSC will be back on Dec 29!
