First, Dave Bailey has some good advice on the art of asking the right question and the importance of silence. Some very practical points on Open vs Closed, Complex vs Simple (and so on) questions, useful for both engaging with your team and doing 1-on-1 coaching.

Do you consider yourself as a data-driven CTO?
Pierre Fournier explains in some detail the risks attached with relying on data for decision-making, none of which is particularly ground-breaking but definitely worth reminding yourself of and keeping in mind.
Data is effectively only one (essential, I would say) management tool amongst many, and Itamar Goldminz provides a few examples of other techniques you can use to provide guidance and direction.
