Here are your picks for this week:
🎼 Culture is everything, everywhere
In his very good blog on company values, Chris Hicken explains why defining your company culture matters, and how he distilled Nuffsaid’s culture into 3 core values. Well worth a read, and if you haven’t done this in your department or startup, then you should!

👭 It’s all about People
Your company’s culture and values likely talk about removing bias and being an inclusive team. Well, Cassie Sanchez (from Textio) recently coverd a good place to start addressing that: business writing.
Unconscious bias and problematic language is so common, and off-putting, in job descriptions, company websites, etc. Make sure you don’t fall foul of this!
💡 Idea of the week
Courtesy of Tim Ferriss’ latest newsletter, here is Hanlon’s razor:
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity
In other words: don’t jump to conclusions and assume that every conflict or problem is motivated by someone else’s malice. Most often, it is just simple stupidity / ignorance / thoughtlessness, all of which can be addressed much more easily.
I hope you enjoyed this, have a great week!
