Here are your picks for this week:
Process makes perfect
With more feature ideas than people to actually build them, prioritising a roadmap is often a challenge. And it doesn’t get better with scale - the more features you add to a product, the more ideas keep coming up!
So what about asking yourself what your Product’s 10x features are? From my time at Brandwatch, a few do stand out (realtime, chart component, rules engine). Definitely a good way to bring more focus to a Roadmap.
It’s all about People
Marty Cagan with a good write-up on the different types of development teams. Confusing terminology aside, the key point for me is: how empowered are your teams regarding product decisions?
With the flip-side being capability - ensuring that teams can take product ownership on. Which also hints at the challenge of management trust!
Something to think about
The Harvard Business Review with an article on burnout - a topic which is also (especially?) relevant to startups. And some findings which go against common assumptions: boring managers are good, and better to focus on removing toxic leaders than hiring superstars.
I hope you enjoyed this. Have a great week!
